A longtime aide to Senator Menendez, Jodi Herman served as the Committee’s Deputy Staff Director and Counsel in 2013-14
WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) announced today that he has appointed longtime aide Jodi Herman to serve as the Democratic Staff Director for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
“For over ten years, first in the House of Representatives and now in the Senate, Jodi Herman has served as a trusted advisor and valued voice on foreign policy matters,” Senator Menendez said. “She is highly respected throughout Capitol Hill for her keen intellect, deep understanding of legislative procedure, and mastery of the national security decision making process. I cannot think of a more deserving person than Jodi to lead the Committee and its Democratic staff during this complex time in global affairs.”
Ms. Herman worked for Senator Menendez when he served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 2000, and joined his Senate office in 2010. She served as Deputy Staff Director and Counsel of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 2013 and 2014. Previously, she worked at the National Endowment for Democracy, in private practice at the law firm Mowry & Grimson PLLC, and served in the Clinton Administration as a Special Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador at the Organization of American States.

Ms. Herman was born and raised in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. She received her BS in International Studies from American University and her JD from George Washington University Law School. She is an active member of Temple Emanuel in Kensington, Maryland and volunteers as a Girl Scouts troop leader in Bethesda, Maryland.
