WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement after Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida addressed a joint session of the United States Congress:
“It was an honor to have Prime Minister Kishida address a joint session of Congress today. Japan is a strong and steadfast ally of the United States, and our cooperation in defense and economic security is paramount.
“In particular, the trilateral partnership among the United States, Japan, and the Philippines is an important step in strengthening our posture in the Indo-Pacific and increasing deterrence against Chinese aggression in the region. I look forward to furthering this partnership in the months ahead.”
