WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement on Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s confirmation as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations (UN):
“Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield has a long-standing record of service at the Department of State and is qualified for the role of U.S. ambassador to the UN. As malign actors like the Chinese Communist Party ramp up their influence efforts at the UN and other multilateral institutions, it is critical that we have a UN ambassador that will be tough and will stand up for the American ideals of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. It is my hope that Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield will rise to the occasion, and I look forward to working with her in the coming months.”
