WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) today held a committee business meeting during which members approved two nominations, five bills, and four resolutions. They released the following joint statement:
“Today, in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s first legislative markup in 11 months, we were pleased to consider several pieces of legislation that we believe will help protect the American people and advance American interests. The BUST FENTANYL Act will leverage the economic might of the United States against Chinese financial actors that facilitate drug exports and harm our communities. The MEGOBARI Act will promote stability in Georgia and Eastern Europe more broadly, and two of the resolutions we passed will reaffirm the United States’ commitment to Taiwan and push back on China’s destruction of Hong Kong’s autonomy. As Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, we’re committed to working together to advance these bills and other effective legislation throughout our tenure.”
