WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement on the announcement that the Trump Administration will implement tariffs on goods from Mexico, Canada, and China effective February 1, 2025.
“President Trump has always been very clear that if he sees Americans being taken advantage of, he won’t put up with it. His decision to put tariffs on goods from Mexico, Canada, and China come as no surprise, least of all to those countries and their leaders. These governments know very well that they need to stem the flow of drugs and illegal immigrants into our country. The sooner they do that, the better.”
