Risch on Committee Passage of Chile Tax Treaty

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today applauded committee passage of a tax treaty with Chile.

“Tax treaties are a critical part of the U.S. tax landscape. They prevent double taxation for U.S. taxpayers, help eliminate tax uncertainty, and are important instruments in fighting tax fraud,” said Risch. “Today’s committee passage of a tax treaty with Chile brings us one step closer to strengthening the ability of U.S. businesses to explore new opportunities in Chile, especially deepening mining cooperation of critical minerals. I expect this legislation will receive broad, bipartisan support in the full Senate.”
