Risch Meets with His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement after welcoming His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan to the U.S. Capitol:

“It was a pleasure to welcome His Majesty King Abdullah back to the U.S. Capitol today. Jordan has an unflappable commitment to peace, and we always appreciate the opportunity to discuss our shared interests.

“It’s clear we must never return to business as usual in the Middle East. It’s time for the region to gain consensus on what comes after Hamas – who will provide security, who will govern, and who will provide essential services. Israel’s ongoing military successes against Hezbollah, Hamas, and inside of Iran have created an opening to decrease Iran’s influence and move the region forward. I look forward to further collaboration with King Abdullah to address these issues and more in the coming months.”
