WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement after President Biden’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA):
“President Biden’s speech at UNGA today shows the serious mismanagement of foreign policy under this administration. He celebrated the disastrous retreat from Afghanistan, which continues to have serious security and humanitarian implications, not to mention the unknown number of stranded Americans. The speech also did not call out our greatest foreign policy challenge: competition with China. We need strong action to respond to the many challenges posed by the Chinese Communist Party, not more empty rhetoric. We must stand firm in our commitment to an international order free from the grip of authoritarian repression.”
