Ranking Member Risch Thanks Foreign Relations Committee Summer 2024 Interns

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, thanks committee interns for their work during the summer term.

“This summer I was pleased to welcome seven exceptional interns to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,” said Risch. “The international community is navigating a multitude of complex foreign policy issues, and these interns had the unique opportunity to witness how the U.S. Senate strategizes and responds. I’m glad they enjoyed this invaluable experience and I’m grateful for all the work they’ve done this summer.”

The SFRC interns this summer are:                    

Nichole Ellsworth

Boise, Idaho

Nichole will graduate from Utah State University this summer. Her interests include NATO, DFC and development, the Middle East, and counterterrorism. Nichole hopes to master various analytical and research methods to produce more well-rounded analyses and recommendations for future U.S. foreign policy.

Alexandra Pugh

Houston, Texas

Alexandra is a rising senior at Southern Methodist University studying political science and music with minors in public policy and international affairs. Her interest areas include Europe and Russia, security policy, and the war in Ukraine. Alexandra plans to pursue a career in foreign policy through the federal government. 

Clark Klitenic

Bethesda, Md.

Clark recently received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and is passionate about national security, specifically in the Middle East. Clark is eager to apply the skills and knowledge he is learning at SFRC to his career in the Marine Corps.

Duncan Platt

Oxford, Ohio

Duncan is a recent graduate of Miami University (OH) where he studied diplomacy and global politics with concentrations in Eastern European and Middle Eastern affairs as well as national security policy. Duncan’s goal is to one day be a career diplomat serving as a U.S. ambassador across the globe.

Ellie Tuesley

Granger, Ind.  

Ellie is an entrepreneurship major with a political science minor at Texas Christian University. She is regionally interested in Europe and the Middle East. After graduating from TCU, she plans to attend law school and pursue a career pertaining to both foreign policy and business.

Giulio Bianco

Milan, Italy

Giulio is a rising senior majoring in political science and history at Columbia University, with concentrations in international relations and European military history. He is particularly interested in transatlantic cooperation, European and NATO security, and emerging military technologies (especially cyber capabilities). Giulio hopes to practice international law before accessing a career in diplomacy.

Eli Glickman

Bethesda, Md.

Eli attends the University of California, Berkley and is interested in nuclear deterrence, emerging technology, and military strategy. He hopes to one day develop nuclear strategy and force posture for the Department of Defense.
