WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today thanked committee interns for their work during the fall term.
“This fall, I was glad to welcome four outstanding interns to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,” said Risch. “The international community is navigating complex foreign policy issues, and I’m pleased my interns had the opportunity to witness how the U.S. Senate strategizes and responds to these difficult topics. I hope they enjoyed this experience and I’m grateful for the hard work they contributed.”
The SFRC interns this fall were:
Jacqueline Oruci
Oyster Bay, NY
Jacqueline is currently a senior at the University of Pennsylvania studying political science and international relations. While interning on the committee, she has focused on international defense, the Middle East, and European affairs. After graduation, Jacqueline wants to work in Congress and eventually at a government agency.
Madeline Guenther
Milwaukee, WI
Madeline is currently finishing out her senior year at George Washington University where she is pursuing a degree in international affairs. Her foreign policy interests include African affairs, counterterrorism, and international defense. Eventually, Madeline wants to work in Congress on defense and foreign policy issues.
Burcu Ozlem Sahmali
Ankara, Turkiye
Burcu is a graduate candidate in the Master of Science in Foreign Service program at Georgetown University, pursuing a concentration in Global Politics & Security. Her interests include national security, U.S.-NATO relations, U.S.-China relations, and counterterrorism. Burcu hopes to one day make a career in national security-focused public service.
Keisuke Wada
Tokyo, Japan
Keisuke received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Berkley and his master’s degree in Asian studies from Georgetown University. His interests include the U.S.-Japan alliance and U.S.-Asia economic security. Keisuke’s goal is to work in U.S.-Japan relations.
