Ranking Member Risch Meets with Colombian VP Marta Lucia Ramirez

JER with VP Colombia

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement after meeting with Colombian Vice President Marta Lucia Ramirez:

“I was glad to meet with Vice President Marta Lucia Ramirez today to discuss challenges and opportunities for our countries and the Western Hemisphere. Between the COVID-19 pandemic, the worsening security situation in Venezuela, and the malign influence of state and non-state actors, Colombia is facing formidable challenges to its hard fought gains in democratic governance, security, and economic prosperity. President Biden should work with Congress and the government of President Duque on concrete measures that build upon our longstanding, values-based relationship and promote democratic stability in Colombia and throughout the Western Hemisphere.”
