Menendez on Start of Ramadan

Newark, NJ - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the below statement regarding the start of Ramadan:

“The holy month of Ramadan is marked by a period of fasting and self-reflection, a time defined by prayer, service, and charity. These are universal values, embraced by communities of all faiths and religions.  Ramadan is also a time for breaking bread with families, friends, and neighbors in the spirit of interfaith harmony.  As millions of families gather here in New Jersey, throughout the United States and around the world, I extend my warmest wishes to all Muslims observing this holy month. Too many corners of our world are experiencing unrest, but during this month of peace, let our collective humanity and compassion serve as the guiding light to communities living through profound and heartbreaking challenges. Ramadan Kareem.”
