BOISE, Idaho – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today released the following statement on the announcement of the full normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after speaking with the White House and Jared Kushner:
“I applaud the historic agreement to fully normalize diplomatic relations between Israel and the UAE. This agreement has the potential to dramatically improve relationships across the Middle East, and I look forward to greater collaboration between two key U.S. partners as we address common challenges and shared threats across the region. The president and Jared Kushner have been working on this issue for a significant amount of time and should be commended for their leadership in reaching this comprehensive agreement, which includes Israel’s commitment to suspend annexation of the West Bank. I hope to see other countries across the Arab and Muslim world follow the UAE’s lead."
