WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, met with co-founders of the Common Man for Ukraine, a non-profit that delivers humanitarian aid, food and other critical supplies to Ukrainian orphans and families based in Plymouth, New Hampshire. During this visit, Shaheen heard about the work being done by the group and their plans for another upcoming visit to the region. They were also joined via Zoom with partners on the ground in Poland. Photos from today’s visit can be found here.
“When the Ukrainian people were faced with the chaos and uncertainty of Putin’s illegal invasion, the people of New Hampshire stepped up. Organizations like Common Man for Ukraine continue to provide lifesaving aid and trauma counseling for Ukrainian orphans and vulnerable families who have faced years of violence,” said Senator Shaheen. “I was grateful to meet with Alex Ray and Lisa Mure, the co-founders of Common Man for Ukraine, and some of their volunteers to receive an update on their selfless work. From delivering more than three million pounds of food to supporting more than 900 children in trauma counseling, their efforts have supported thousands of Ukrainian women, children and families.”
Ranking Member Shaheen has been a strong advocate for Ukraine in the U.S. Senate. Shaheen is also a co-chair of the bipartisan U.S. Senate NATO Observer Group in support of the transatlantic Alliance. In February 2025, she visited Ukraine with her colleagues in a bipartisan show of support, where she witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of Putin’s illegal war. She has advocated for strengthening NATO-Ukraine relations, pushed for increased military and humanitarian aid and supported sanctions against Russia.
