WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement in observance of Latvia’s Proclamation Day November 18:
“I extend my best wishes to Latvian-Americans in New Jersey and around the world celebrating Proclamation Day. For generations, Latvians have struggled against authoritarian powers and survived foreign occupations, ultimately repelling these threats and building a vibrant, prosperous society. Latvia is an key partner to the United States on so many of our shared goals, from enhancing transatlantic security to deterring regional aggressors. We appreciate the contributions of so many Latvian-Americans here in the United States who have given so much to our society. I wish the people of Latvia a joyous Proclamation Day and look forward to many more years of close partnership.”
