Menendez Statement on Terror Attack in Nairobi

WASHINGTON – Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement after Tuesday’s terror attack in Kenya, where gunmen stormed a luxury hotel complex in the capital city of Nairobi, killing at least fifteen people, including one American.

“I condemn in the strongest terms yesterday’s terror attack on Nairobi’s Dusit hotel complex, where at least fifteen people were reportedly killed, including one American, Jason Spindler of New York, and hundreds more were forced to flee. I am in contact with the State Department and have urged them to take the necessary actions to help the government of Kenya investigate, and swiftly bring the perpetrators of this act to justice. As we await more details surrounding this senseless attack to come clear, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, as well as reiterate my support to the Government and people of Kenya in their fight against the terrorism that continues to deny them peace and stability.”
