Menendez, Risch, Reed, Inhofe Send Message of Support to Philippines in Wake of Bombings on Jolo Island

BOISE, Idaho – U.S. Senators Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, along with Senators Jack Reed (D-R.I.) and Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement after two explosions on Jolo Island, Philippines resulted in multiple Philippine military and civilian casualties:

“We extend our sincere condolences and a strong message of support to the Philippines and its people in the wake of the bombings on Jolo Island. We stand ready to support continued close cooperation on counterterrorism between our two militaries. This cooperation is vital to the freedom, security, and prosperity of the United States and the Philippines.”
