WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today applauded the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s approval of his bipartisan resolution commemorating the 200th anniversary of Greek Independence Day, March 25, 2021. Cosponsored by Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), the resolution celebrates the commitment to democracy that Greece and the United States share as well as the two nations’ lasting partnership and rich history of friendship.
“I am incredibly proud to see the Senate Foreign Relations Committee officially mark up a resolution for the 200th anniversary of Greek independence and join those in the United States and around the world celebrating the Hellenic community’s rich cultural heritage and immense contributions to global history,” Chairman Menendez said. “As we work to have this important resolution approved by the entire Senate later this week, I will continue finding additional ways to further the U.S.-Greece relationship to advance our shared values, promote security cooperation, and ensure economic prosperity for years to come.”
