WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Bob Corker, R-Tenn., ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, made the following statement regarding President Obama’s nomination of Mike Froman as U.S. Trade Representative.
"Mike has been good to work with, and I look forward to talking with him further as I consider his nomination. I am hopeful that this is an indication that the administration is serious about advancing U.S. participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), U.S.-EU trade agreement (TTIP), and the International Services Agreement, all of which hold great potential for generating new economic growth and investment in the U.S. and in new markets for American products overseas. I hope the President will now work with Congress to enact trade promotion authority this year. That will only strengthen our hand in these talks. Ultimately, Congress and the president must work together to ensure that our trade priorities strengthen America’s future competitiveness and prosperity while spurring economic growth and creating jobs," said Corker.
