“I would like to join the people of Taiwan today in celebrating the conclusion of yet another successful democratic election,” said Chair Cardin. “This weekend, Taiwan has again demonstrated its commitment to the democratic values that underpin our extensive and deep ties. Taiwan remains a key U.S. partner in the Indo-Pacific and beyond. I look forward to working closely with the newly elected leadership of Taiwan to deepen our economic, security, and people-to-people ties.”
