BALTIMORE – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement on the terror attacks in Mali.
“The brutal terrorist attack in Mali is a tragedy that must be condemned in the strongest of terms. The loss of innocent lives at the hands of Al-Mourabitoun, an Africa-based al Qaeda linked group, is a heinous act and underscores the need for continued vigilance and strengthened international cooperation in the fight against terrorism. While this situation continues to unfold, the United States, France, the international peacekeeping force, and the Malian government must step up our critical fight to counter terrorist threats in this region of Africa. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were killed and injured. Today the United States stands in solidarity with the people of Mali and the Malian government as they bring to justice those responsible for this atrocity.”
