WASHINGTON – This week, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement congratulating Ecuadorian President-elect Daniel Noboa on his victory during last weekend’s elections.
“I want to congratulate Ecuadorian President-elect Daniel Noboa on his victory this weekend. Amid high levels of violent crime, the Ecuadorian people showed up in record numbers to demonstrate their commitment to preserve democratic institutions, reject corruption, and restore security. I look forward to working closely with President-elect Noboa to support these goals.
“In the last few years, Congress has pursued bipartisan efforts to deepen bilateral relations with Ecuador. I look forward to working with President-elect Noboa to advance our countries’ shared interests and promote a more secure, democratic, and prosperous hemisphere.”
