Cardin, McCaul Statement on Ongoing Violence in Ecuador

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) and Representative Michael McCaul (R-Texas-10), Chairs of the Senate Foreign Relations and House Foreign Affairs Committees, issued the following statement on the continued violence in Ecuador:

“Ecuador is a key partner of the United States. Its security and prosperity are in the mutual interest of our peoples. We are horrified by the heinous acts of violence perpetrated by armed criminal groups across the country. We reaffirm our support for President Noboa as he moves to restore order and bring justice to those undermining the country’s stability. As Chairmen of foreign relations committees in Congress, we stand ready to support expeditious efforts by the administration to assist Ecuador in restoring security in the country.”
