Cardin Criticizes Trump’s Rejection of Dialogue in North Korea Crisis

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement Wednesday in reaction to President Trump’s latest tweet on North Korea:

“Yesterday, the President said all options remain on the table related to North Korea. Today, he has rejected dialogue and negotiation. The threat from North Korea is too grave to give up on diplomacy now. Foreign policy cannot be conducted via Tweet. Instead, President Trump should work with Congress to develop a real, comprehensive strategy to de-escalate tensions and bring North Korea to the negotiating table.”
